Blackjack lands travel retail deal with Diageo

As part of its drive to boost duty free sales, drinks giant Diageo has appointed Blackjack Promotions to handle its promotional staffing needs for key travel retail sites in the UK; the deal will cover airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, London City and Edinburgh.

This is the first time Diageo has had to employ an additional staffing resource, and shows the company's commitment to this particular channel.
Staff will be provided by Blackjack in conjunction with Diageo's own promotional consultants for various in-store operations, including manning the Diageo bars.
These staff will work independently or with Diageo's own team of experts depending on the occasion.
All Blackjack's team of experts, who will carry out the promotional activity at the numerous airport destinations throughout the UK, will be fully trained Diageo specialists and will include professional mixologists.

Jonny Wells, trade marketing manager for Global Travel and the Middle East at Diageo, commented: ‘Diageo has for many years run a successful team of promotional staff trained in travel retail, however, with our reach ever expanding it has become necessary to bolster this support with a third party agency. Blackjack, as one of the leading experts in airport promotions are the obvious choice, and we look forward to a fruitful relationship with them.’
