Bringing some Christmas Magic to London Stansted Airport
The brief
After a difficult and exhausting year for travelers and staff alike, Blackjack were invited to bring some Christmas joy to passengers, shoppers and airport personnel at one of London’s leading airports. As the country was battling with an upsurge of Covid cases we had to ensure all our ideas would be entertaining but also Covid-safe, and would ensure passengers and employees felt confident about their airport experience at all times.
The Blackjack response
We created a multimedia Christmas experience that ran across multiple channels for the two weeks leading to Christmas. Blackjack’s services span People, Creative and Logistics, and we used all three areas of expertise to achieve this campaign. Our Creative division scripted, filmed and produced videos with the real (obviously!) Santa Claus who would feature in digital ads we planned and bought on Digital Out of Home Screens. We also created a special Snapchat Geofilter covering the entirety of the airport which offered a special Christmas message from our Santa to passengers and their followers. Our Logistics expertise designed, sourced and produced all the required furniture and materials to deliver a Santa-letter writing stand for the younger (and young-at-heart) passengers. And our expertise with providing trained and motivated People meant we were able to source the best talent to entertain passengers and employees – the hilarious “Elf and Safety” duo along with the amazing “Santa Babies” singing duet.
Our favourite moment
2021 proved a challenging year for the aviation industry and for passengers, and so seeing the enjoyment on people’s faces as they interacted with our team was simply delightful. Whether this was joking with Elf & Safety, listening to Santa Babies or smiling at their children writing their letters to Santa, it was clear passengers and staff members embraced the activity.
The outcome
Passengers and staff really valued the extra animation throughout the airport. Our digital screen campaign overdelivered by 300% and our Snapchat Geofilter proved highly successful, generating an “exceptional” interaction rate according to Snapchat.
